According to Jean-Marc Lofficier, in his introduction to Brian Stableford’s translation of The Eye of Purgatory; And, Dr Mops’ Experiment (2010), Spitz fought in both World Wars. This is as yet the only indication I have of Spitz’s war service in the Great War.
